An Introduction to Spiritual Thoughts
to Create a Big, Happy, Peaceful, and Loving Life
(Ages 9 and up)
I read this book together with my 10-year-old daughter. The book has many great positive messages for adolescents about their uniqueness and importance, our interconnectivity in the world, and about positive, loving and thoughtful actions, all the while gently guiding the reader to find out more about their own spirituality by encouraging them to “try on” different beliefs to see what feels right to them. For us, the book brought out a lot of new and interesting family discussion. This would be a great read for a tween or young teen who might be dealing with something such as a death in the family, someone who is feeling disconnected in general, or for an adolescent who is maybe beginning to ask questions like, “Why are we here?” or “Why do bad things happen?" The concepts are clear and easy to understand, the overall message is positive and loving, and the illustrations add a bit of fun for a younger reader. Great read!
It’s opening up what I’ve thought about but was never able to put in words. I’m really enjoying it!
Unpuzzling Spirituality is a true and absolute gift to the world… I marvel at how this book just "flows"…. I felt rather mesmerized, and, of course, as I am drawn in I am enriched as well. May the wisdom of your heart spread to all those receptive and those who need the gift of a "path" to open the way.
Incredible! You take these difficult concepts and break them down so simply... I wish I had this book growing up....
You’ve made the topic of spirituality, which is SO complicated - accessible to the general public. I can think of so many friends that I want to get this for because they are already spiritual and would love this to discuss with their kids. And more importantly, I have a few friends that are living so unconsciously and I think this will be the perfect intro to the idea of spirituality for them (disguised as a book for their kids).
Will you know what to say when your kids ask questions?
If you are not sure, this book will help to prepare you to answer some of life's toughest questions.
But in a spiritual, not religious, kind of way.
"Back of the Book" Description
Exploring your spirituality is a journey that can help you to figure out who you are, who you can be, how you fit into the world, and how you can make a difference in the world around you. But, understanding your spirituality can sometimes feel like you are putting together a puzzle without a picture to guide you. Unpuzzling Spirituality helps the reader put together the many spiritual puzzle-pieces to help create a big, happy, peaceful, purposeful, and loving life.
Let's explore things like:
- What is spirituality?
- How does spirituality relate to my life?
- How do I develop spiritual beliefs?
- How can I use my spiritual beliefs in my every day life?
- What is death?
- How can I know how to act and behave in the world?
What makes Unpuzzling Spirituality different?
There are many impressive books on the market that address spirituality. While containing insightful information, they often jump into “graduate” level concepts. Unpuzzling Spirituality was originally intended as a book to teach kids about spirituality, so we invite the reader to begin with the basics – a “spirituality 101” – to create a solid base on which to build their spiritual understanding.
Why has it been called a “kids book for adults”?
This book is for all ages, but it has been called “a children’s book on spirituality for adults.” In it, we are providing thoughts on spirituality in ways kids can understand, but we anticipate adults actually reading it more than kids. It will provide adults a language to communicate spiritual thoughts with kids in ways they will understand. (Or, they can grab this book and read the appropriate parts together as questions arise.)
We invite you to explore your spiritual understanding with us and unpuzzle this spiritual puzzle.
Let’s get the conversation started with kids earlier
Exploring our spirituality is something that often does not happen until our later years in life. But…
What kind of change could we put out into the world if we start exploring spirituality when kids are young?
What change can happen if kids know they are wanted?
If they know they are part of something larger than themselves?
If they know they are vitally important in the world and can effect all around them in a positive way?
Starting this conversation earlier could make a world of difference in all our lives. Our hope is that this book will allow you to start that conversation with your kids. Teach them beliefs that they will carry into the world and make this world an even better place.
